15^th May is International Day of Families.

It’s a chance to celebrate the essential role caregivers – whether parents, grandparents, siblings or other extended family members – provide across the globe.

This year’s focus acknowledges the role family members play in promoting education while respecting the sustainable development of lifestyles that embrace human rights, non-violence, gender equality and global citizenship.

Whatever the impact of globalisation on modern day life, it is still good to recognise that the family remains the basic unit of society and that the welfare of children is more often than not wholly dependent on the love, support and protection of the family.
